A MOVIE ABOUT A STANDUP COMEDIAN
To clear the air, this movie is not about me.
I just got done writing my first movie this summer, a boxing movie, and hope to sell it to Hollywood. They say, “have multiple projects in the pipeline,” so I put together a few TV show ideas I had running through my mind for a few years during the lengthy process of writing a movie.
However, my first love is standup comedy. I have been doing standup comedy for 7 years, but have only been consistently funny for 4 years. Although I have not achieved fame or a tour, I have been complimented by some pretty prestigious comedians, told countless compliments by strangers, am usually Top 3 performances of the night, and always receive healthy applause at the end. There’s a difference between sympathy applause because you performed and healthy applause because your set was enjoyable, funny, entertaining, and maybe some laughed their asses off.
If I could catch a break on social media with the algorithms, or didn’t live where I live, I am certain I would be on a comedy tour right now.
I could talk standup comedy all day. My 10 year plan is to own a premier standup comedy venue, but from now till then there’s going to be a lot of twists, turns, highs, and lows, but mark my words: IT WILL HAPPEN.
The other night I was reading my Bible an idea came to me. Now a night like this night does not happen often, but I knew I was onto something. My mind has been racing ever since.
I don’t like giving out loglines to ideas I have, but I want to share this one with the masses.
LOGLINE: You will just have to wait till it hits the movie theaters. LOL.
Now some of you are thinking I’m lying. It’s about him. It’s 60% fiction and 40% non-fiction. I’ve seen a lot, been through a lot, heard a lot, and have an idea of how I want this to go, so I’m going to run with it.
I’m going to bring the drama, the emotion, and the funny. This project is going to be very special and going to speak to a lot of people whether you love standup comedy, or not.
I plan on finishing the script early 2024.
